Herringbone Lemonade

I have been having lot's more fun with the July Creative Cafe Kit of the Month from The Rubber Cafe'!

This month's kit is called Too Much Sun and it is full of bright, fun, papers, and embellishments. For today's creation I thought I would play with technique instead of my usual fun fold cards!

Here is my latest card...

I use the Herringbone technique  for the background on it.

To start this technique you will need to cut  4 different patterned papers into 1/4" strips.

I cut 6 each.

Cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of white cardstock.

Run the panel through a Xyron or adhere a double sided adhesive panel to the cardstock.

Take the top piece of plastic off to expose the sticky part.

Then start adhering the strips of paper to create the herringbone background.

Continue adding strips.

Fill in the entire panel.

This is how mine looked when I was done.

Then I trimmed it down to a  4" x 5 1/4" panel.

I backed it with a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" panel of white cardstock and then adhered it to a 5 1/2"  4 1/4" green card base.

Wrap green ribbon around the card base and tie a bow around a strip of orange wire. (included in this months kit)

Swirl the wire around a pen or your finger to swirl it.

Stamp the images and sentiment on a white panel and quickly color it.

Back the panel with other panels as shown with Scrap Happy Glue.

Stamp the lemons and the pitcher on a white scrap with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Color with Copic Markers (Y00-Y02-Y08-C1-E55-E53)

Then "fussy cut" the images out and adhere to the card with 3D Foam squares.

 Here is the finished card.
