Rich. Warm, & Strong

I was in Louisiana for work earlier in the week and have been going a little nuts playing catch up since then. And if that wasn't enough, my daughter decided that she wanted to paint her room before her brother comes home on Saturday so that she could store her things in his room while painting so I've been trying to guide her on that project. Very proud of my ability to sit on my hands and not paint it myself....she is 18 now after all! So...I haven't stamped at all this week- but I have a card to share that I made before I left for Louisiana.

I made this card for the DTGD challenge going on this week for fan club members at Splitcoast Stampers. It's based one of the sketch challenges. It also fulfills the "faux" challenge to use no patterned paper or store bought embellishments.

I created the patterned paper by stamping random coffee cups in brown ink on kraft paper. I used clear Acetate for one of the layers of the sketch so that it wouldn't cover up the coffee cups. I stamped one cup on a scrap piece of paper, colored it, and cut it out for the coffee cup embellishment. The sentiment and cup are GinaK. The main image is a digi from In Style Stamps.

Even though I didn't stamp this week I did color alot!!! This is what I do when I travel. I stamp/print out a bunch of images and I take them on the plane and color away. The poor TSA agents don't quite know what to think of the 100+ markers I travel with. I guess they look a little strange in the X-ray machine. And the people on the plane probably think I'm a little strange coloring away but I don't care. I am very productive and the time just "fly" by for me!

So I will be busy making cards out of these images over the weekend and I'll have lots of fun things to share with you next week! Have a great weekend!

Gina K Challenge

Gina K invited everyone to play along with her desing team challenge this month. It was a color challenge. You had to use at least two out of the five new luxury card stock colors that she released this month and one of the new release stamps. Luckily, I just placed an order last week when I saw the new release so I was able to play. I made three different cards for the challenge.

The first one uses stamps from "Hang in There". I found some Basic Grey Origins paper that used the creme de menthe and lemon drop colors and came up with this.
For the second card I used the new "Lovely Labels" set. I die cut the main image with my Nestabilities label die which is slightly larger than the image and left the white framing around the edges. Then I used a small circle die to punch out the center, sponged the edges and popped it up a little with pop dots when I put the card together. I had a strip of Basic Grey patterned paper laying on my table which had the lovely lavender and innocent pink colors in it so that was the jumping off point for this card.

FinallyI got the "Inside and Out" set free with my order because I bought three other sets so I used it for this card. Again, this one was inspired by the Basic Grey Lilly Kate paper which had the Creme de Menthe, Lemon Drop, and Ocean Mist colors in it.I hope you've enjoyed peeking at my creations and are inspired to go check out these great new stamps! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sew much fun!

I spent most of yesterday locked in my craft room playing along with the VSN challenges. I made this card for the pocket card challenge.
My favorite thing about VSN is also my least favorite thing. You have only 45 minutes to make a card. Now, those of you who know me know that I produce a lot of cards and I think I usually make them in under 45 minutes but something about being told that I only have 45 minutes sends my brain in to panic mode. This one came together pretty quickly. I had a couple of Cosmo Cricket pads laying on my desk that I grabbed for inspiration. As soon as I settled on the paper it seemed obvious that a sewing theme was emerging so I grabbed my GinaK stamps and finished it up quickly. I've got to get some more of this paper so I can make a few more because I really like how it turned out! Hope you had some time to stamp this weekend too!

Sweater Inspired

It's VSN weekend over at SCS and I am having a BLAST!!! If you have time you should stop by and play. It's not a competition and you don't have to participate in every challenge. It's just a fun, fun time! It's challenging, productive, and educational!

The theme for this VSN is the Winter Olympics. Did you know that each Winter Olympics has its own official sweater? I didn't either...see stamping is educational! One of last nights challenges was to make a card inspired by this years official sweater created by The Hudson Bay Co.

This is the card that was inspired by those sweaters:

That beautiful Graphic paper isn't patterned paper. I created it with the Graphic Tapestry backgrouner by CHF. The main image is from GinaK's brand new Lovely Lables set. When I saw this set I knew I had to have it...and every nestabilities set that it matched! I will be very busy stamping today but will have lots to share in the coming days so please stop by again soon!

Papa's Birthday Card

When I woke up this morning I knew that I needed to make a birthday card for my father in law and get it in the mail as his birthday is on Sunday. When I checked out the SCS WT challenge today, I was thrilled to see that I could kill two birds with one card!

I called my hubby at work to double check how old his dad is going to turn on Sunday so I could put his age in big numbers on the front of the card. Hubby thinks for a second and says that his dad was either born in '37 or '38. Now tell me exactly how that information is going to help me make a cool "numbers" birthday card??? MEN!!!

So I went to plan B and just used my Cuttlebug numbers embossing folder for the background and came up with this card.

The truck is from the Truck Graphix set in the GM line by Cornish Heritage Farms. The sentiment is Gina K.

Here is the inside:

I used the Perfect Plaid Scrapblock for the bottom part.

I gotta get it addressed and in the mail and then get my booty back to work! Have a great day!

Better late than never...

Wow! Sorry I haven't been around. I know on Wednesday I said I'd share another GinaK card on Thursday...and now it's Saturday. Don't know where the end of my week went.

Well, heres the card I promised you:

Just a quick simple card but I just love the images and sentiments in this set. It's called Many Happy Re-Turns.

And just because I've been such a lazy blogger this week I'll share one more quick GinaK card.

This image and sentiment both come from Whimsical Valentine. Quick and simple but so cute!

Trying to build my daughters stash back up because she sent all her cards on tour with her boyfriend. I am planning on being back tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll get some time to stamp and have something new to share! Good night!

You know you're old when...

I made this card with another one of the stamp sets I picked up when I visited GinaK's store last week.  It's called, You know you're old when....

As I continue on into my 40's, I know I will get lots of use out of the  funny old people images and sentiments!

The inside say's, "getting lucky means you found your car in the parking lot".  I can't tell you how many times I've walked up to the wrong car in a parking lot and keep clicking the clicker because the dang doors won't unlock!

The paper is SU's so saffron and green galore.  The patterned paper is from DCWV's glitter pack.  The ribbon is Dots and Dashes from Michael's.

It's nearly Friday!!!  Hope you're having a great week!

Sew Thankful

Today's card is a quick one I whipped up for my friend Julie. Last week while I was in Wisconsin she picked up Tyler and took her to her community band rehearsal three nights so I wanted to send her a thank you card. This was made with one of the stamps from the Many Happy Returns set from GinaK.

It's a pretty simple card. Of course I had to sew on it!!! It's colored with copics and the flowers are by Prima. We are heading over to the school to paint the pit trailers for the marching band so I won't be stamping much today.

Make sure you stop by tomorrow to check out the Monday Challenge Chicks Post!

Have a great Sunday!

Birthday Celebration

It's celebration Tuesday and I need a birthday card for a friend of mine. I haven't used my GinaK, "Make a Wish" set lately so I brought it out for this card. Remember that a portion of the proceeds from every one of these sets is being donated to the Make a Wish foundation by Gina.

The designer paper, the scallop punches and the primas are from the Paperpretties Corner Store. I just got this new paper piecing stencil from Ellen Hudson's store and I love it!

I am exhausted because I stayed up late to check out the CHF Treasure Hunt when it went live. Have you checked it out yet? Well, hurry over because you only have till 9 AM MST on October 4th to enter to win all 7 of the new Kim Hughes stamps!

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Labor Day!

I hope you are spending a nice day with your family today. I have got to go walk the dog before it gets too hot. It has been over 100 everyday this week!
I am posting a very quick and simple card today. I thought a beach theme would be good since many of you are spending your day there. The crab and sentiment are GinaK. The sand is sandpaper! Have a great day!

Sunday Catch up

This week I had a major "Ah Hah!" moment. Actually, it happened two times. I felt like an idiot but I am going to share with you because I am hoping there are a few more of you out there like me. The fist lightbulb came on when I ordered my very first order of MissyB stamps. MissyB stamps come unmounted on a rubber sheet for you to cut out and mount or not. They sell cling mount which I had heard about on other blogs and stamping sights but I didn't really understand what it was. I know, I could have just asked someone but I'm not really one to ask something that everyone all ready seems to know the answer to. So, I decided to order some cling mount with my stamps. My order came and I figured it all out. And now I can not believe I lived with out this stuff. I mounted my new missy B's and then I went and mounted my unmounted Rubber Romance AND my Bella's. I had been using double sided tape on my acrylics and sticking Bella on to stamp. How dumb! Much easier with the cling mount AND...I get a better image too! Well, if you all ready knew all this then I probably sound like an idiot but if you didn't I hope this helps you! Here's what it all looks like...

This is how the cling mount comes. It's a thin piece of foam that is really sticky on one side. The other side isn't sticky but clings to acrylic blocks.

This is one piece with a bunch of my Bella's and Bella sentiments stuck to it to show you how many stamps you can fit on one piece.

This is Vegibella all cut out and "clinging" to an acrylic block.

My second "Ah Hah" moment was in regards to storing stamps in CD cases. Heard about it...just didn't get it. Then I got my first order of Papertrey stamps which come in a CD case and suddenly it all made sense. I ran out to Office Depot and bought a package of CD cases and now I store all of my clear sets and my unmounted rubber this way. Here's a pic in case you're like me and just can't picture it.

The one on the left holds a MissyB set and the one on the right holds a Wordsworth set.

Don't worry, I am going to share some cards today too! The first one was made for one of the VSN pre-challenges to make a Christmas card in autumn colors. The second card is one that I made using my cute little Lobster from GinaK.

Beate's Friday Sketch

When I got home today, my GinaK stamps were sitting on the counter. This is a GREAT set. It's so versitile. I wanted to play right away so I got the set cut and mounted and then went to check out Beate's blog for her Friday sketch challenge. I pulled the colors for this card from the ribbon but when the card was done, you can hardly see the ribbon. I used star eyelets on the candles and glitter on the cake...overall, a really fun card!

Stamps: GinaK's Make a wish
Paper: lavendar lace, white, turquoise, Green Galore

Stamps for a Cause

Gina K finally posted her new "stamps for a cause" stamp set. It's a really nice and versatile set. I ordered mine first thing this morning. I can't wait till it arrives. The best thing about this set is that $7 from every set sold will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation. So you can feel good-not guilty about this stamp purchase. Gina's stamps are very high quality and the wood mounted ones come just like Stampin' Up's. Just cut out and mount. While I am waiting for my new set I though I'd make a card using last years "stamp for a cause" set called Love you to pieces. This set is still available for purchase and $8 from each of these sets goes to the Group, Autism Speaks.
Stamps: Love you to pieces by Ginak
Paper: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, whisper white
ink: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum
Accessories: iridesant embossing powder, ribbon, corner punch, dimensionals, Marvy scallop punches, CM oval cutter

Finally...I can stamp!

Finally back from three days in Portland, OR. The weather was awesome...not one drop of rain which is very unusual for the Pacific Northwest. I worked the whole time so I didn't get to do the tourist thing at all AND...I didn't get to stamp. But work wise, it was a good trip. I am off work today though and plan to stamp all day!!! I've all ready finished two cards and wanted to share with you.

This one combines two SCS challenges. Monday's color challenge was to use Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, and Old Olive. In honor of the "Dirty Dozen's" third anniversary, SCS is hosting member's only challenges this week. One of the challenges was to make an elegant card. I think this one fits the bill. I just love this hostess set, Garden Silhouettes. Elegant cards are not usually my style but I just can't help but make elegant cards with this pretty set!

Stamps: small script, Garden Silhouettes, Floral
Paper: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, always artichoke
Accessories: ribbon, cuttlebug embossing folder, CM oval cutter, ticket corner punch, sponge

This card is the oposite of "elegant". It combines this weeks sketch challenge, to make a Tent Talker card and today's limited supply challenge. The LSC challenge was to stamp with black ink on white paper and then NOT color with markers or coloring tools. Before you say anything-I DID NOT cheat! Look closely...that's black and blush paper you see on that cow image. It doesn't show in the picture but each of the flowers on the bottom row have a little bling in the center of them.
Stamps: Farm Feaver, Ginak
Paper: black, white, blush, designer paper from JoAnn's
ink: black
Accessories: ribbon, scallop punches, hole punch, bling

My New GinaK stamps are here!

I have been in Eastern Washington all week for work and have not had a chance to stamp. But when I arrived home this afternoon my order from GinaK was on the counter! Yeah!!! I am so excited. When I saw that man in the hamock on Gina's blog, I knew I had to have him. He looks just like my father in law and I know that will be my husband some day soon! I also got some of her scallop doodle stamps and a cute little sentiment stamp. And of course Gina always throws in a little fun gift too.

This is the first card I made with my new stamps is for this weeks sketch challenge. It's a little plain for me but that is the problem with male cards. I try to stay away from ribbon and froo froo, but then I am usually not thrilled with the card. I am going to send it to my father in law and I know he'll like it anyway!

Stamps: GinaK & Stampin' Up!
Ink: Black, Green Galore, Cocoa, Brocade Blue
Paper: Brocade Blue, green galore, black, white
Accessories: eyelets, circle punches, cuttle bug embossing folders

Quick post...

No time to stamp today...busy cleaning house, but I wanted to get this fun card posted since I haven't posted in a couple of days. I made this card for last weeks SCS Sketch Challenge. The sentiment and lobster are from GinaK's new summer line. I just can't get enough of them. The paper is from DCWV Summer Stack which I bought at JoAnn's. I don't usually buy the big packages of paper because so many of the pages end up being papers that I won't use but this pack is great and I just can't wait to use all the wonderful papers that are in it. This was a fun sketch challenge. I think I will try to play with this sketch some more this weekend when I get some time to sit down and stamp. I hope you're all having a terrific weekend!
Stamps: GinaK
Paper: DCWV, summer sun, green galore, gable gree, red, white, bashful blue
Ink: red, gray, black
Accessories: cuttlebug embossing envelope, ribbon, dimensionals

Just Be-Claws

I made another crabby card after making the one for Beate's challenge card. This is a tried and true sketch that I use all the time. Rochelle sent me the cuttlebug embossing folder. I love those circles! Thanks Rochelle! I don't have a scallop punch but I cut the scallop circle using my Cricut and the monogram cartridge. I have a feeling I'll be playing with these cute GinaK stamps all weekend! I'll share more later!
Stamps: GinaK Designs
Ink: black, red
paper: black, white, red
Accessories: cuttlebug embossing folder, ribbon from GinaK, Cricut, CM Circle cutter
