Shimmerz Blog Hop

We're having a little blog hop today to celebrate the fun we're all having with the Shimmerz products we've been playing with! Hopefully you got here by way Joanne's blog. Today I have two cards to share. I added bling to both of these cards using Flashee Fushia Shimmerz Blingz. All the images are from Cornish Heritage Farms and the patterned paper is Basic Grey.

I used the Shimerz Blingz on the cherries and around the edges of the burgundy scallop panel. Hard to see in the picks but this stuff is really shiny and very cool!

The next stop on the hop Julia Staiton...have fun!

Shimmerz & Frosty Friends

Cornish Heritage Farms and Shimmerz are having a little fun this week! Liz gave the Shimmerz design team some rubber to play with and Stacey gave the CHF Team some Shimmerz to play with! We'll all be sharing out projects with you for the next few days. I received a bottle of Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz and knew I had to try it on a snowy project so I pulled out my frosty friends stamp and came up with this.I tried to get a better picture of it to show the awesome shimmer that it has but my camera just isn't that great so you'll have to take my word for it...it's amazing! I used the shimmerz on the ground, the snowman, all the icecickles, the twill and on the sentiment panel. It is really cool IRL! I know this is something that I will be using a lot in the future!

Here's the deets:
Stamps:
-Frosty Friends and sentiment (friendly Kritters)
Paper:
-simply smooth white
-Prism Paper
-Basic Grey patterned paper
Ink:
-Memento Rich Cocoa dye ink by Tsukineko

I'll have another Shimmerz project for you tomorrow so I hope you'll stop by!

The Rubber Cafe

Last Monday I was fortunate to be able to attend one of Marianne Walker's Copic Certification classes. What a great opportunity to learn some new Copic coloring skills and techniques and reinforce what I had all ready been doing!

I found myself sitting next to a lady who had a bag full of fun stamps that she was stamping with. I found out that she was Melissa Forsyth-Sampaga, the owner of The Rubber Cafe and she was kind enough to let me play with some of her Stella and Angus images.

Here's a couple of cards I made yesterday with the images I colored during the class.

The patterned paper is DCWV and the other cardstock is Prism Paper. Its all colored with Copic Markers, of course! The images are Melissa's and the sentiments are from CHF!

I hope your week is off to a great start! Mine is busy as heck but at least I am at home! See you tomorrow!

Promises, Promises....

I promised I'd post the second new GM release on Thursday and now it's Sunday....WOW! How lame am I? I don't know where the end of the week went. I didn't get back to my hotel on Tuesday until pretty late and had to pack and get to bed as I had a 6 AM flight out of Harrisburg to head back to the West Coasts. Travels went well except when I got home I found a dog with an ear infection.

She just kept shaking her head over and over. I can't believe nobody else in the family noticed it while I was away but with in 30 minutes of being home on Friday I was on the phone with the vet and they squeezed us in for an appointment. After that I ran up to the high school because it was the last day of my kids marching band camp. They performed the first two movements of their field show for their families and then we had a family BBQ in the Quad. The kids all went to a "lock & bash", all night bowling party after that. (Midnight to 7 am) Saturday was spent picking up the house, doing laundry, and getting some work caught up after being on the road all week.

And now it's Sunday. I am still on East Coast time as I was WIDE AWAKE at 5 am...great, huh? Oh well...it's my one day to stamp so after I post this I am headed to the craft room!

I just wanted to quickly post a card with the new GM set, Happy Harvest! It's a great, fun set for fall...

Stamps:
-Happy Harvest (GM)
Paper:
-Yellow/green & Orange by Prism Paper
-DCWV Patterned Paper
Ink:
-Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink by Tsukineko
-Adirondack orange dye ink by Ranger

Other:
-Queen & Co. brads
-nestabilties by Spellbinder

This is what the set looks like:

It's got everything you need for making all those great autumn cards for friends and family.

You can check out more great ideas in the GM gallery.

I'd love to stay longer and chat....but there's an empty craft room calling my name!

New month....New SOTM!

I can not believe that it's August all ready. The kids start marching band camp next week and for all intents and purposes...that means the end of summer for our family! Two weeks of 8-10 hour a day rehearsal at band camp and then school starts! Bring on the CRAZY!!!

Well the beginning of a new month also means the release of a new SOTM image at CHF. This months SOTM is actually a small set of stamps that work really great together. The included sentiment is for a sympathy card so it really is an ideal set to have on hand when you need a quick sympathy card.

Here's a sample card that I came up with:

Stamps:
-Sympathy collage (August SOTM)

Paper:
-Sunflower medium and dark by Prism
-CHF Simply Smooth white

Ink:
-Adirondack pitch black, caramel, and aqua dye ink by Ranger
-copic markers

I'm alone in the house today and in between chores am enjoying some stamping time. I hope you are enjoying your day too!

Last Chance...wil it be you?

The final days of the five week CHF Summer Stamp Star Challenge are winding down!

This weeks challenge was to make projects using a "One Sheet Wonder". Most of you probably have tried this at one time or another. You start by creating a "masterboard" or "patterned paper" using what ever stamps you choose. Then cut that piece of paper apart and use it to create your projects!

This is my patterned paper that I created using the Sweet Bee set from the Rummage Bin.

I used it to create 8 cards (2 of each of these designs:

You have till Midnight on Sunday night to upload your OSW project to the gallery. This weeks winner will win $50 worth of CHF stamps.

Thanks for your Service

I flew back from Mississippi today. Left Jackson at 6 AM which is 4 AM in my California world! I had a three hour layover in Dallas but all in all it was a pretty good travel day.

I flew American Airlines and I thought it was pretty cool when they were boarding the plane in Dallas that they asked the service men in uniform to board with first class. There was a 20 something soldier in uniform that I watched board. He sat a few rows in front of me. I saw a few people stop and tell him, "thank you for your service" as they walked by. I thought that was pretty cool too.

When we were deplaning in Burbank I was a few people behind him. I watched him enter the terminal and he was immediately embraced by three people in a huge group hug. As I walked by I saw his Mom, sister, and dad (in uniform too). They were all hugging and had tears running down their faces...even the two soldiers....wasn't long before I too had tears running down my face.

I know we all get busy in our day to day lives, working, playing, stamping...we forget...today I remembered. There are young men and women out there risking their lives for our freedom. There are families everywhere wondering if their sons, daughters, husbands, and wives will be returning home. Today, I remembered.

So...when I got home I took out this lovely set, We Remember, by CHF and inked it for the first time. I made 12 of this card which I will get to one of the many organizations who send cards to the soldiers. Today I remembered....take a minute to remember too....

Make it Winter

It has been close to 100 degrees all week where I live and I am ready for some cooler weather! I wish I had the ability to just "make it winter" and cool it down! I felt a little cooler while working on these snowy samples for you.

Today the newest Scene it release is coming out over at Cornish Heritage Farms and it's call Make it Winter.

The thought behind it was that it can be used along with some of the other Scene it sets to....yep-you guessed it....Make it Winter!

My first sample uses this new set along with The Ranch:

Don't you just feel cooler looking at it???

Here's another sample using Mountains and Make it Winter.

Sooo many possibilities. I am having a blast seeing how many ways I can combine this new set with the ones I all ready have.

If all the scene cards have inspired you to try to make a scene...don't forget that this weeks challenge over a CHF for the Summer Stamp Star Challenge is to make a scene. You have till Monday to enter your Scene card in the contest.

You could win $50 in free CHF stamps if you win this weeks contest. The gallery is filling up with lots of great cards. I can't wait to see yours!
