Three weeks till graduation

At our house we are clicking off the days till my daughter graduates high school. This week we had her very last band concert and Senior Awards night. Next week is finals and the end of year band banquet. Feeling sad that this stage of her life is over but very happy and excited for her as she gets ready to head off to Cal Poly SLO in a few months! Of course we have other graduations to think about as well. I made a couple of more graduation cards that I wanted to share with you today.

This one is for one of my daughters friends. I still love this awesome Kim Hughes Owl image! I used the Super Saturday Sketch for inspiration.

This one is for one of my best friends daughter who is graduating next week. It's the first easel card that I've made. Much easier than I thought it would be. I know I will be making more of these! I'm sure I don't have to tell you that the adorable little mouse is a Penny Black image!

And this one is for my nephew who is graduating a few days after my daughter. I just love this fun digital image from Dustin Pike! The paper on all of them is The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.

I hope you enjoyed these cards! Have a great Friday and thanks for stopping by!

Class of 2010

Made it back from camping and visiting the Cal Poly campus with my daughter last night. Hubby and son came up early yesterday and will hang out today before heading home. I had to get my daughter back because she has to work today!

We fell in love with Cal Poly again! She is so excited to be going there in the fall. It is a beautiful campus with friendly, supportive people. I am really happy she's made this decision. Thinking about college get's me thinking about her graduation in 8 weeks..so I've started playing around with some party announcements. Her group of friends wants to have a party to celebrate and I'm in charge of invitations.

Here's a couple that I've come up with...

I'm leaning towards the second one but am still playing around...They were both made using Kim Hughes "Congrats Grad" set. It's a great set to have on hand at this time of year!

Well, I'd like to say that I'm off to stamp...but I'm off to do laundry and clean up the camping stuff! Hope the rest of your weekend is great !

Let's Party Pop Up Card

Just got back from a quick business trip to Texas. Haven't been stamping in the last couple of days but still have a few things left from VSN to share with you. I made this pop up invitation for one of the VSN challenges to make a pop up card. I didn't quite finish it in the alotted time frame but finished it up for you to see.
I'm not sure I'd actually make these for actual invitations as cutting out those cupcakes and gifts on the front is a little time consuming but I think it turned out really cute and if you did make these everyone would be pretty impressed! You can find directions for making a pop card here. The first one is tricky...but once you do it, they really are a breeze!

Reflections

I was a bit tied up over the weekend as I mentioned that I might be.

My son is in the Southern California Jazz Honor Band. It's made up of kids from Santa Clarita to San Diego. They had an all day rehearsal in Yorba Linda on Friday which is about 90 miles from our house. Then they performed at Disneyland on Saturday and then a final performance on Sunday at Cal State Fullerton. I drove him and his buddy to Friday rehearsal. While they rehearsed I visited some craft and scrapbook stores in Orange County. After the rehearsal we stayed at a hotel near Disneyland. I wasn't about to drive 90 miles home in Friday night LA traffic just to turn around and meet at Disney at 6:30 AM on Saturday! We stayed Saturday night in the hotel too and then had the concert on Sunday. A very nice weekend! But...that is why I haven't posted here lately!

I did get a tutorial posted over on the CHF Creative Blog though. It will guide you step by step to create this card.If you haven't seen it yet you still have time to check it out. And....if you post a comment on the Creative blog tutorial by 5 pm PCT tonight you can win the stamp set that I used to make this card!

Good Luck!

Eagle Scout Cards

Still have a sick daughter at home today. I can tell that she is really not feeling well because I have her settled into the guest room downstairs with a TV and video games and she is sleeping...when she starts playing video games again I'll know she's on the mend!

Yesterday, one of the boys in Garret's boy scout troop had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor so we needed a card. While I had the paper and stamps out I made a few since I know a couple of his friends are getting close to earning this rank as well.

I bought this Eagle stamp a while ago for the purpose of making Eagle Scout cards. First time I've inked him up but I am very happy with the results!

All the stamps and paper that I used for these cards can be found at the CHF Store.

Spica Hearts

Today's Way's to use it challenge over at SCS was to alter patterned paper to make it special. I was going to put glitter on all the hearts on the patterned paper but my quickie glue pen isn't working so I went with the spica pen to add some shine. It doesn't really show up in the picture but it's sparkly IRL!

Bear Hugs Sketch

I got a chance to do the SCS sketch challenge today! I flipped the sketch upside down. I think I may have strayed a little far away from the sketch but it was the initial inspiration for this card.

I finally got my new Kim Hughes stamps in the mail and have been having a ball playing with all of these adorable images.

The design team girls have made some amazing samples with a lot of cute paper piecing so I knew I wanted to do some too. It's such an easy way to make adorable cards!

Here's my card:

Stamps:
-Bear Hugs & Spring Trees (Kim Hughes collection by CHF)
Paper:
-Suede Brown Dark by Prism
-Basic Grey
Ink:
-Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink by Tsukineko

Happy Inauguration Day!

I was going to make a patriotic card for today but I decided to hurry and get my post up today so that I can park in front of the television and watch all the festivities as our new president takes office.

Over the weekend I organized and ran a HUGE rummage sale for the band program at the high school. In our town we are not allowed to tape or post signs up in the neighborhood. They actually pay a city worker to go around and take them down! So when you have a garage sale you have to stick signs on your car and park it somewhere. For our sale on Saturday I sent a few kids down the street with large posterboards announcing our sale. My daughter went down to the corner by the soccer field with her sign and her i-pod and was dancing and rocking out...until she landed sideways on her ankle. Suddenly my 16 year old turns 3 again as she calls me crying...

I rushed down there and picked her up, took her home and put ice on it. I really didn't think it was a big deal. 30 minutes later the side of her ankle was swollen up nearly as big as a tennis ball. I took her to urgent care where they took x-rays. She stretched/popped a ligament but didn't do any damage to the bone. They splinted her up, gave her crutches and told her to stay off of it for a few days. Luckily, with no school yesterday she had nearly 3 days of rest. She went to school with the ankle still wrapped but no crutches today. This card is one I made her on Sunday. Gave it to her with a new video game since she was stuck in bed for two days!

Even with all the drama of the day we had a very successful rummage sale raising over $1700 for the band program. I hope you had a great weekend...with a little less drama than mine!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Birds Color Challenge

I just finished posting the Prism Paper Color Challenge over at the CHF Forums. This weeks colors are:

Island Mist Medium
Blush Red Dark

Spring Willow Medium

cc30

Here's my sample card:
After I put this card together I couldn't figure out where to put a sentiment so I stamped it on the inside. I'll put this in my daughters card stash because she will need a bunch of cards by this summer to send to her boyfriend while he's away on tour.

If you get a chance to try this color challenge please post a link to your card back here. I'd love to see what you come up with.
